Let AI Run Your Facebook & Google Ads: What MCP Means for Your Shop

Imagine saying one simple sentence — "Run a Facebook ad for my nail salon, $20 a day, target women 25–45 in Vaughan" — and the ad just runs. No clicking a dozen buttons inside Facebook Ads Manager. It sounds like science fiction, but in 2026 this is real, thanks to a technology called MCP.

I wrote this so that even if you've never run an ad in your life, you'll understand what MCP is, what it can do with Facebook and Google Ads, and most importantly: how to use it safely so you don't burn money by accident.

What is MCP? The simplest explanation

MCP stands for Model Context Protocol. The name is a headache, but the idea is simple.

Picture this: an AI (like ChatGPT or Claude) is like a brilliant assistant with no hands — it knows what to do, but it can't press buttons inside Facebook on its own. Meanwhile, Facebook and Google each have a "socket" that outside software can plug into.

MCP is the cable that connects that AI assistant to Facebook's and Google's socket. With this cable, you just talk — and the AI does the button-pressing for you.

In short: MCP is the translator that lets AI "speak" directly to Facebook Ads and Google Ads.

Running Facebook & Instagram Ads with MCP

This is where things are most advanced. In April 2026, Facebook (parent company Meta) officially opened the door to AI with Meta Ads AI Connectors. That means Facebook officially lets you create, manage, and report on ads right inside the AI tool you already use.

There are also third-party services, the most well-known being Pipeboard — an official Facebook partner (properly "badged") that can do almost everything:

  • Create new ads — campaigns, ad sets, and the ad creatives themselves
  • Adjust budgets — raise or lower daily spend
  • Pause / resume ads — turn off the ones burning money without results
  • Target customers — by age, gender, interest, location (e.g. only people within 10km of Vaughan)
  • Pull reports — which ad brings the most messages, which one wastes money
  • Preview ads on Facebook and Instagram before they go live

The best part: whenever you ask it to do something that spends money (create, change budget), the system always asks for confirmation before it actually runs. It never acts on its own.

Real example: "Compare my 3 ads this week — turn off the one with the highest cost per message." The AI analyzes, then asks you: "Are you sure you want to pause ad X?" — only after you say yes does it pause.

Running Google Ads with MCP (remember this part)

Google also has an official MCP, built by Google itself. But here's a crucial point: Google's official MCP right now is read-only — it can look, but not change.

What does that mean? The AI can:

  • See what your Google Ads account is currently running
  • Pull the numbers: how many clicks, how much spent, how many calls generated
  • Write reports for you to read

But the AI CANNOT (with the official tool):

  • Create new Google ads
  • Change bids
  • Pause or resume campaigns

Google did this on purpose for safety — because Google Ads can burn money faster than Facebook if a command is wrong. To let AI create and edit Google Ads, you'd need a third-party service (like GoMarble), but that carries more risk, so weigh it carefully.

Bottom line: With Facebook, AI can do almost everything. With Google, AI is mainly for analysis and reporting for now — not something you should let it run on its own yet.

How to use it safely: 4 steps for beginners

Powerful tech, but don't hand your whole wallet to a machine. Here's how I suggest you start:

Step 1 — Start with "read" only. Connect the AI just to view reports. Every morning ask it "Which ad brought the most customers last week?" — get comfortable, nothing can break.

Step 2 — Let AI draft, you approve. Have the AI build the ad and show you a preview. You (or your marketing team) review it before it goes live.

Step 3 — Always keep "ask before doing" on. Never let AI run ads automatically without confirmation. One misread sentence — "$20 a day" becoming "$20 an hour" — means wasted money.

Step 4 — Test with a small budget first. Try a small account, a few dozen dollars, see if the AI does what you meant, then scale up.

So what's next?

You don't need to go set all this up yourself — it's still fairly technical. What matters is knowing it exists: an agency can now use AI to run and monitor ads faster, cheaper, and report back to you in plain Vietnamese.

This is exactly how we at Wizy help shops run effective ads without paying $4,000–6,000/month for an in-house marketing hire. You focus on being great at your trade — let AI and us handle the ads.
